Cloud Dancer is the Pantone Color of the Year 2026
Every December, I get so excited to see what the new color of the year from Pantone will be. For someone who thrives on color as much as I do, it’s a guide to see what will be featured in my designs as well as stores and the subtle influences it will have around us. And this year is no exception. For 2026, Pantone announced the color chosen was Cloud Dancer. While it’s a little different from what Pantone usually chooses, it’s intended to whisper calm in a world full of noise. Think of it as a neutral background to create your own style with both warm and cool undertones. Some of the clouds in our own backyard yards as well as pristine beaches all over the world, have so much color and texture visible during the day, but especially at sunrise and sunset, you can see a soft pink, peach, lighter blue and more. I bet you have a few photos of some of these stunning clouds at sunrise and sunset trying to capture the beautiful colors, right? I know I have many! Just imagine dreamy iridescent pearls, moonstone and even quartz with their abstract filaments in all their luscious colors paired together.
When choosing Cloud Dancer for your wardrobe, mix layers of luxe materials such as cashmere in sand, cream, ecru with your chunkier fisherman style knits, corduroy and silk as well as white denim. Quiet luxury. Textures are the key with creating a Cloud Dancer outfit as well as adding it to your home that will make it interesting. Refresh your office or den with a beautiful arrangement of all white flowers in season, keep the theme with either a crystal or opaque white vase or if you’re craving some color, add it from a striking unique vase. Or even do the reverse, a textural white vase with colorful arrangement. Another way to add some fun texture is with a bowl of river rocks. They adorn my plants, sit in vases mixed with shells and can be very calming, even colorful in a luxurious muted way. Sometimes these natural colors are just the thing we are craving.
If you’re craving color, just do it, as most colors pair nicely with Cloud Dancer. After all, it’s only a trend and you should wear what makes you smile and feel good wearing.
